Hi all. It’s another Orpheus Monday. With a few family members appearing in clues and answers, including the rather naughty 5d, perhaps I should have subtitled this post A Family Affair.
It took longer for me to get a foothold in the NE than elsewhere, but once I did the rest followed without undue delay. As usual I’m struggling to nominate a COD, but I’ll go with 16a. Thanks Orpheus!
On my first run through, I did not get any complete across answers – I only had the last word in one of the long ones. So I thought it might be a little hard, but usually the downs turn out to be easier in such cases, and so it proved.

11:19. Not a terribly difficult puzzle but highly enjoyable.
Hi everyone, and welcome to Jumbo 40 squared. A multi-session solve, so no time to report, but it would have taken me over the hour I think. Entertaining as always – thanks setter!
Today’s setter did some delightful “sleight of hand” with words that deceived the solver. The definitions in 12d and 14d looked like something entirely different; I smiled at mention of the playmaker in 17d too.
Not too tricky, though there was a lot of biffing
45:15. Got stuck at around 25 minutes in with the last four clues. Contemplated giving up many times but ground out each letter and finally made it home. Not quite sure whether I should feel satisfied or frustrated!
Another 18 minute solve for me for this challenging puzzle from Breadman, which I found a real treat…
