Times Cryptic Jumbo 1770 – 10 January 2026. Barking at the moon
Hello all. In a departure from routine I solved this one in a relaxed mood listening to music, so the 55 minutes on my clock includes some time not focussed on the puzzle. Thanks setter!
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1769 (Saturday, 3rd January)
Quite a tricky puzzle.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1768
Our New Year Day’s Jumbo gives us glamorous women and not so glamorous outfits.
Times Cryptic Jumbo No 1767 – 27th December
A first Jumbo from one of our newer setters, and it’s a good one with lots of witty clues.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1766 – Bob’s Country Bunker
Just in case you’re confused about which puzzle this is, given the plethora of jumbi we had over the festive period, this is the one from Boxing Day. I found it tricky”.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1765 – 20 December 2025. Scrappy New Year!
Happy New Year to you all!
This was certainly on the tricky side. I don’t have a proper time as my “solvemate” and I did it together, but it was a good puzzle for sharing, with plenty of cunning tricks and misdirection. Thanks setter.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1764 – Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia!
I managed to solve this one readily enough, spread out over several sessions. The second long answer is not used in the USA, and I had to get a number of crossers before concluding what the answer must be.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1763
Straightforward but enjoyable puzzle, with one guessable scientific term for those of an arty bent; and a dish made from the underrated buckwheat.
Times Cryptic Jumbo No 1762 – 29 November
This was an entertaining jumbo at the easier end of the spectrum.
