Once again it befalls me to blog a Jumbo that I categorised as “tricky”, with a few elements that are likely to befuddle non-UK solvers.

Hello all. In a departure from routine I solved this one in a relaxed mood listening to music, so the 55 minutes on my clock includes some time not focussed on the puzzle. Thanks setter!

Quite a tricky puzzle.

Our New Year Day’s Jumbo gives us glamorous women and not so glamorous outfits.

A first Jumbo from one of our newer setters, and it’s a good one with lots of witty clues.

Just in case you’re confused about which puzzle this is, given the plethora of jumbi we had over the festive period, this is the one from Boxing Day.  I found it tricky”.

This was certainly on the tricky side. I don’t have a proper time as my “solvemate” and I did it together, but it was a good puzzle for sharing, with plenty of cunning tricks and misdirection. Thanks setter.

I managed to solve this one readily enough, spread out over several sessions.   The second long answer is not used in the USA, and I had to get a number of crossers before concluding what the answer must be.

Straightforward but enjoyable puzzle, with one guessable scientific term for those of an arty bent; and a dish made from the underrated buckwheat.

This was an entertaining  jumbo at the easier end of the spectrum.
