Probably of average difficulty. On review there’s little in the way of obscure vocabulary and while there are some neat touches none of the wordplay is too complicated.

Times Cryptic No 28542 – Saturday, 04 March 2023. American exceptionalism?
Much to like this week. Answers went in quickly, until I slowed down in the NE corner. My LOI, and also my COD, was 7dn with its clever reference to Washington DC. Exceptional!

A mostly-harmless offering from Hurley, however there were three or four clues which I found quite challenging.

A very clever new device made this an interesting puzzle. Even then I found it challenging in several places, and yet again, missed my target time on by Blogday.
