40 minutes on the nose, with one error. Today (Thursday in the US still) is the 44th anniversary of my birth. So not even my silly error can get me down!

Time taken: 12:14.

Much to like today, with plenty of smooth surfaces and concise clueing.

My solve was interrupted more than once so I lost track of time.

Well, so much to enjoy in this rather more challenging than usual Monday offering!

A tough but very witty and enjoyable puzzle, which I struggled with due to some deviousness (setter) and ignorance (solver).

I liked this crossword but I didn’t find it easy. The top half went in but the rest needed a second session to finish off. Midrange, I would say, which is just how I like it.

I discovered when preparing the blog that I had a one-letter error that wasn’t a typo.

I’m in a bit of rush tonight, so I wanted a quick solve.  That didn’t quite work out, as I solved rapidly for a while and then got thoroughly stuck.
