I’ve got my second Teazel in a row to blog. Today’s Quick Cryptic is again typically teazing with one or two tricky bits, but not overly so – I finished in a just-over-average time for me of 5:34. I liked the bag-lady, the punishment and the green thing best and finished with 12A. Thank-you Teazel for the excellent crossword and the spelling lesson (q.v.). How did you all get on?

Times Quick Cryptic 2139 by Teazel
Today’s Quick Cryptic from Teazel is typically teazing with one or two tricky bits, including a couple of clever cryptic definitions. It helps to know your card games, operetta composers and South American geography, which I do – finishing in 5:08. I had a rare (for me) MER at 4D – was I right to twitch the eyebrows? On Saturday we had a meet-up of a few folk from here at The George, our traditional watering hole in London in Borough High St, close to The Times offices.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1552 – 23rd April
I found this a satisfying Jumbo to complete with some masterful complex wordplay, whimsical definitions and neat surfaces to admire. Quite a few single letter deletions, I thought, so my strikethrough button in the editor got plenty of use.
Times Quick Cryptic No 2129 by Hurley
A slightly harder than average Quick Crossword, if my time (6:16) is anything to go by, from Hurley today. I found the long answers a bit tricky and got stuck trying, in vain, to make the answer to 13A VIRTUE. My LOI was 16D where I was expecting the King at the end not the beginning. Nice one.
