Tricky enough today from Wurm that took me a couple of minutes over target. Lots of very effective misdirection sent me completely the wrong way on quite a number of clues.

Times 28330 Turns out I can do.
I got through this in 12 seconds inside 20 minutes, though not without hesitations on the way over some quirky definitions and unusual anagram indicators. There is vocab that may be unfamiliar to some … Read more “Times 28330 Turns out I can do.”
Times 28329 – book ends
A somewhat literary flavour to today’s challenge, which took around twenty minutes to solve and a few more to fully parse.
Times Quick Cryptic 2167 by Jalna
Finished in a pretty average time for me, only held up by 1ac at the beginning and 20ac at the end.
Times Cryptic 28328
I had all but four answers in 28 minutes but I needed another 20 for three of those missing, and to decide I didn’t know the fourth. Then I cut my losses and looked up the last one.

Despite not getting 1ac on first pass, I zoomed clockwise round the grid from the NE finishing back with LOI 1ac in 6:29. A pretty fast time for me – anyone breaking PB’s today?
Times Quick Cryptic 2165 by Hurley
Hi all. I liked this offering from Hurley. There’s nothing wrong with the across clues (unless you wish to throw your dictionary at 11a in protest) but my picks today are all in the downs. The breakdown of 2d may be common enough but I thought the execution, with the twist in the tail, was deftly done. I almost always lap up a reverse clue, so 3d made me happy, and I also appreciated the Uxbridge English Dictionary nature of 12d. Thanks Hurley!
Times 28327 – With a tiny monster, perhaps?
We have certainly gotten to just about the easiest possible puzzle today – I doubt whether this will break 50 in the SNITCH.

Mephisto 3225 – Paul McKenna
Greetings barred-grid fans. I found this one pretty tricky, especially on the wordplay side. I am writing this up nearly a week after solving the puzzle and I’m kicking myself for not putting it together … Read more “Mephisto 3225 – Paul McKenna”
