For those who may not know already, today is a Bank Holiday in the UK and there is a Cryptic Jumbo #1559 available. I’m not sure if we will get another one for tomorrow’s Platinum Jubilee so look out for it just in case.

Times Quick Cryptic No 2148 by Breadman
A fun mix of clues today that took me just over the 10 minute mark, thanks to two minutes at the end spent trying to think of homophones of reptiles at 11d – there was some elusive (or perhaps illusive) caiman type creature that remained on the tip of my tongue. Times Quick Cryptic 2147 by Corelli
A little tricky, possibly because I did not solve 1ac on first glance, I don’t know Kent geography well enough, and had never heard of the tribe.
Times 28305 – a Kosovan conman? A Montenegrin mountebank?
This was a first-class puzzle with some devious misdirection and at times witty clueing; it took me around 35 minutes, with the SE segment the last to fall.
