Jumbo 994

I didn’t find this too difficult – around 21 minutes – though I did have to look up a couple of terms (otter-board, inheratrix). As usual, * indicates an anagram.

Hope to see some of you (including linxit) at Anax’s birthday celebrations today!

  1. I printed off this and the bonus puzzle onto one sheet of paper, one one side and one the other, thinking it would last me the week. But in the end I went through both in an hour so both must be quite easy I reckon.

Have fun oop north (as it is from here in Kent) and give Anax/Dean my best regards & wishes

  2. Isn’t that SINGSPIEL? SING over, not around, (SLIP +E)

    1. Quite right – it is SINGSPIEL. I’m correcting the entry. SPIELSING somehow how sounds so much more musical…
  3. This wasn’t easy for me, evidently; over an hour before I gave up timing myself. And I never did get 11d, since the ‘Bow’ reference escaped me (not sure that I’d have got it even if I’d twigged to that). Also DK ‘never-never’, but there wasn’t any doubt on the solution there, at least.
  4. 24:00 for me. I’ve come across OTTER-BOARD before – in the Times crossword, I thought, but it could have been some years ago.
  5. Realize their own positive results as well as kudos them accordingly. Additionally, search for the latest developments inward kids’ fashion and teach your kids with similar.
