Donald Yerrill

from today’s Times Literary Supplement:

Donald Yerrill, known to our solvers as “Tantalus”, died on July 22, 2016, at the age of ninety-two. Don set the vast majority of the TLS crosswords, and was still contributing puzzles, despite ill health, as recently as February.

Don’s puzzles were much loved, and solvers frequently wrote to us to express their enjoyment and gratitude. On his death certificate, his occupation was given as “wordsmith”.
