A (mostly) jolly good Jumbo with plenty of straightforward clues to get you going, and then a few entertaining trickier bits… and a couple of MERs.

Unless I’m very much mistaken this is my 100th Jumbo blog. I knocked off this enjoyable puzzle comfortably within an hour and rather liked the preponderence of idiomatic phrases…

Hello all. I found this gentle enough for the most part, but fell over at the end. There were a couple of trickier clues, but the one I failed on was for the unfamiliar 18a. No matter: there was plenty to entertain here and I enjoyed the ride. Thanks setter!

I completed this over two sessions and had very few problems.

Hello again. A lot of UNs in this crossword.. unsaintliness, undeserve, unpunctuality.. not really complaining, but not words I would normally use. And as for prewar Polish composers…

Quite a straightforward Jumbo on the whole this time with just a couple of chewy bits and the usual smattering of unknowns.

I solved this rather old-fashioned puzzle in about 50 minutes over three sessions.  There was a distinct lack of the up-to-date stuff The Times is thinking of introducing to attract younger solvers.

Hi all. I didn’t find this the hardest Jumbo ever, but did have to think a bit. Unusually, I think I may have twigged the identity of the setter.
