Hello everybody. This felt a little tricky for a quickie: although it didn’t last much longer than usual, certainly no Monday picnic. (Cue lots of reports of scorching times!) I was surprised to see who the setter was as it didn’t feel quite up to his usual quality. Still enjoyable though – thanks Izetti.

Times 29023 – Take it easy, either way…
Another easy Monday, although the preponderance of longish answers provided some challenges, along with some interesting words.

14:50. I obviously found this tricky but I can’t really see why now.
Quick Cryptic no 2781 by Wurm
Another puzzle by Wurm to enjoy, and (trigger alert) again he is making full use of the new freedom to reference living people.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1691 – from Adam Ant to Steely Dan
This gentle puzzle detained me for no more than 40 minutes including nailing down all the wordplay.
Times Cryptic 29016 – Saturday, 7 September 2024. Counter lunch.
A good puzzle to do over lunch I found. My favourite was 9ac.

Times Cryptic No 29021 — Lift and separate
DNF. I think a lot of the wordplay here was quite tricky (more lifting and separating than you might find in a pilates class), but I fairly raced through this one until I got to the upper-left corner. After 15 minutes of beard-scratching, I still wasn’t able to get 1 Across or Down, so I threw in the towel.
