One comment on “Times Jumbo 886 – Sat 28 August 2010”

  1. An odd one this, with lots of really easy clues, several really well constructed and quite tricky ones and too many downright, hit and hope obscurities, with HANUMAN, TEREDO, NEVE, PIS ALLER, AREAL and CAMP FOLLOWER all going in from wordplay only. As I was solving I had gaps all over the place and had to keep skipping from one area to another as I got bogged down. About 35 minutes altogether in 3 sessions though, strangely, the last three which I had struggled with all fell within 36 seconds of each other.
I put “good clue” ticks next to 2d, 9d, 22d, 33d and 51d and smiled at “weapon against big bully” for SLING at 18a
