  1. An enjoyable 28 mins spent on this pangram – I particularly liked 54a, 33d and 55d. Thanks to the setter and Helen for the explanations.

[Tell Sid I am trying out a new lemon drizzle cake recipe! Will let you both know if it is better than the ‘marriage proposal’ version.]

    1. I WANT TO SHARE MY LIFE EXPERIENCE ON HOW I GOT CURED FROM HIV BY HERBAL
MEDICINE. It may sound strange! For the past 6years i have spent a lot of
money in buying anti-retroviral medicines to strengthen my immune system
and keep me healthy, until i read an article on the internet about an
Africa Herbalist who uses herbs and roots to cure HIV and all kind of
      diseases.
Though i never believed he can cure HIV, but i decided to give it a try
because i was desperate. Then i sent a message to the him on his Instagram at:@dremmanuel2 He
prepared herbal medications and send it to me
through DHL COURIER DELIVERY SERVICES and i took it as he instructed.
      11days after, i
went to the hospital to do a checkup, the result came out and i tested
NEGATIVE. I’m sharing this with you, because i believe there’s someone out
here who also desire to have this cure. feel free to send a message to him
      through his WhatsApp at +2348140073965.
  2. Completely defeated by 29ac: I didn’t know the military term, and it never occurred to me that a word for ‘arrange get-together’ might come after a word for ‘King’s Head’. The ‘at’ is very sneaky. No complaints though: it’s a perfectly fair clue, just hard!

  3. 35 mins. DECEIT was my LOI after BIRDIE. I think I may have got PROVOST MARSHAL from definition and checkers, but it was two weeks ago so I can’t remember. REMEMBRANCE OF THINGS PAST definitely went in as a best guess from the checkers and the wording of the clue. Whenever I see Proust I have to make an effort not to mentally pronounce it as it was pronounced in the Monty Python sketch.
  4. Fortunately, I did know the term PROVOST MARSHAL, but couldn’t make sense of the clue until I got here. Also couldn’t make sense of BRAHMS & LISZT, although at least I was correct in suspecting a CRS expressionLOI BIRDIE. COD to 1ac.
  5. got those two from the checkers and the latter from remembering the names of the two composers who are common in Times xwords .used to have the crossword companion by jeremy williams that had cockney rhyming slang but someone did not return it to me when i lent it to him in 1994.
  6. Excellent clue. I didn’t know the term but guessed it from the checking letters. In parsing I dreamed up whoever I might know of who was a provost, and the ghost story writer par excellence – M.R. James – came to mind. He was provost of Eton. What I didn’t know until I googled him was that he’d also been provost of Kings College Cambridge, which is a bit esoteric so I assume the setter just meant a generic college head.
  7. My marriage has been a blessing till 4months ago when my whole life almost got sucked. My ex-wife and wanted me back by all means and wanted to break my marriage. she set me up in many occasions showing the pictures to my wife that am back to her this made my wife file for an instant divorce and wanted to leave my life in total. and even my 4kids wanted were disappointed in me. but i never have any intentions of going back. The i went to many spell casters but they all failed taking my money away. I lived in grief for 3 good months without any plan of getting out of this mess. till i met an old skull friend who show me to Dr.jartospellcaster@gmail.com a spell witch who then restore the happiness to my family and my life. He spell worked so fast that i could not even believe it. he’s great for as much i can tell. Am still grateful to he till tomorrow for he spell works.
