Sorry about the non-appearance of this blog at the usual time, hopefully more consistent service will be restored next week.

Thanks for the blogs Olivia and Verlaine.
Took over an hour but eventually completed this.
NHO SOCKDOLAGER (despite the chess reference pointed out by Wil Ransome). DNK STE = female saint. Took far too long to see MOOSE and LOI WORN.
Altogether not a good week with various errors on other days.
I’ve just watched your solving video. Please, please would you treat yourself to Matt Walker’s book ‘Why We Sleep’? It is truly life changing. (If you’re very short of time he also has a 20 minute TED talk called ‘Sleep, your superpower’ that hits the main points.)
Yours restfully,
Pleasuredome
Fantastic puzzle with some wonderful clues. Ticks all over the place.
Thank you V and very clever setter.
I was actually — as is the way of these things — rather annoyed at w/p that was *clearly* far too convoluted. Coming here to realise that two of them were anagrams (FOOTBRIDGE and DISOBEY) caused a rueful smile and a metaphorical tip of the hat. I had the first but simply couldnt see the parsing.
STEELY MOOSE and CORRESPOND were the others unfilled. And looked up SOCKDOLAGER on the hour just before conceding defeat. Unless you know it, rather difficult to construct such a word and truly believe it exists
MADHOUSE unparsed ditto HANKY-PANKY
Defeated on pens last Sunday. This was more a 3-0 drubbing 🙂
Thanks Verlaine and our fiendish setter
