Quick Cryptic No 329 by Rongo – crazy, nuts, raving, and missing.

Apologies to all who expected to see my blog in good time. Today’s Quickie is not appearing online on the Times site (although all the other links work and I’m logged in) and it wasn’t there (as a sequential URL number) last night either; perhaps it will appear later, in which case I will do the necessary. If anyone has a URL that works or a scan of the hard copy, could they please post a link here for me.

UPDATE 9.26 CEST: Deezzaa has kindly sent me a scan of the paper version so I am tippy tapping, should be up in half an hour or so. I’ve uploaded a copy of Deezzaa’s scan to this link http://www.harrystottle.com/QC329.jpg for those who would like it.

UPDATE 10.06 CEST: Once printed off, this took me 5 or 6 minutes, one of the easier entry level jobs, so here we go.

  1. It’s working on the iPad app but I can’t reset it, I could screenshot it (I think?) but it would show all the answers. And not all the clues (because you have to scroll) but that could be solved by two screen shots I suppose…
  2. Sorry you had trouble, Pip. I go to the paper shop to get mine. 6:03 for me, so yes, I think it is on the easy side. Plenty of straightforward clues to get people going. 11a my favourite and 2d made me chuckle. I liked the triple definition for 20a too. LOI 12a as I parked the anagram when the answer didn’t leap out.
    1. Unfortunately mine only has today’s Sud Ouest and yesterday’s Le Monde, on a good day.

  3. 12 minutes, with mind paralysed trying to untangle PLAYS ARE for some reason.

The puzzle editor is now aware of the problem so hopefully access will be established before too long.

  4. For some reason the 1d 1ac combination took me as long as the rest of the clues put together. Even then, I ended up with peabug rather than peanut.😒 I blame the hot weather. Invariant
  5. Nothing too tricky here. I thought 12a was going to cause me a few headaches until I finally realised that it was an anagram – took a while and all the checkers to be in place for that to happen though.
  6. I guess should be AND inserted into ROM at 16d? Interestingly, RAM is Random Access Memory… David
