  1. Found this about medium difficulty, so not as easy as you Jim. Also I irritatingly put in Samouse for 15ac, meaning to check it later but forgetting..

My wife is not keen on spiders though she can catch them if I’m not around. But mice, she loves. Our cats bring in a steady succession of mice, shrews, voles, and the odd dormouse. Mostly alive and she is very adept at grabbing them, and we take them outside and hide them in the shrubbery.. they have also brought in squirrels, a pheasant (now in the freezer), an occasional bird, bats, you name it..

  2. I think this must have been on the easier side since I managed it without too much difficulty. (I am stuck with 5 to go today .) Oddly I took ages to see the obvious PAINTRESSES.

SHTCHI is a wonderful collocation of consonants. Many years ago I had a Swiss colleague whose family name was GSCHWIND which always fascinated me for the same reason.

  3. I wonder what the reaction would be if you called a female artist a paintress? One of my fastest Mephisto solves, so very generous wordplay.
