Chambers crossword manual – now out of print

Sad news from Don Manley – his Chambers Crossword Manual is going out of print. He’s trying to get another publisher to take it on, but if you don’t have it, you might want to secure a copy now – even the best crossword books can stay out of print for a very long time. ISBNs for the 4th (latest) edition are:

Paperback: ISBN10: 0550104372 ISBN13: 9780550104373

When I looked just now, Amazon UK said they had 1 hardback (“more on the way”) and 3 paperbacks. Amazon US had 18 and 4 in the same order, and Blackwells simply say “In stock” for both editions. Waterstones and WH Smith say they have one of the two in stock, as do Barnes & Noble in the US. Borders (US) offer it on back order.

  1. When I looked just now, Amazon had 17 hardbacks.. a total of 67 copies of the book in all, including used ones (from 1p!)
  2. Thanks Peter. The Chambers crossword list as a whole is under review, but the good news is that the Chambers Dictionary will stay in print indefinitely. Don M.
