This was a moderate Mephisto, and I mostly did pretty well with it, but I ended up struggling in the NE. It’s pretty easy to get stuck when you know how a clue must work, but can’t manage to get all the right pieces in the right place.

Mephisto 3303 – Robert Teuton
Greetings barred-grid fans. It is the eve before Christmas Eve here. With the crazy holiday schedule, I think I did this puzzle on Wednesday morning, so it should be fresher in my mind. I remember … Read more “Mephisto 3303 – Robert Teuton”
Mephisto 3302 – Thanks, Paul, I needed that!
Yes, for the first time ever, I used one of Paul’s awful puns to complete the puzzle. I was really stuck in the upper right, and needed something to get me searching my Chambers. After checking a couple of possibilities, I saw what was going on.
Mephisto 3301 – Tim Moorey
Greetings, barred-grid fans. I enjoyed this one – the wordplay is excellent all-round, and can be trusted to get to the unusual answers readily. Pretty brisk solve. In Mephisto puzzles, definitions can be confirmed in … Read more “Mephisto 3301 – Tim Moorey”

Mephisto 3298 – To suck eggs, presumably
I did not find this too bad, but I was tired last Saturday and put it aside half-finished to go to bed. The next morning, I finished fairly easily, but I was a bit concerned about one biff I couldn’t justify.
Mephisto 3297 – Tim Moorey
Greetings, barred-grid fans. I was back to my routine last week, having a beer and solving Mephisto in breaks during the classic horror movie, which was the William Shatner “classic” Kingdom Of The Spiders. I … Read more “Mephisto 3297 – Tim Moorey”
Mephisto 3296 – I get by with a little help from my friends!
I thought this was going to be hard at first, but it turned out otherwise. I had to check a few things in Chambers, but at least they turned out to exist when I looked them up.
Mephisto 3295 – Robert Teuton
Greetings, barred-grid fans. I did this puzzle in breaks while watching The Night Stalker on TV (and I’m about to tackle the next one while watching its sequel, The Night Strangler). I remember it being … Read more “Mephisto 3295 – Robert Teuton”
