An interesting test from the setter today.

I could find no foothold in this excellent puzzle; it was like solving 30 individual clues rather than a coherent whole.

For me, another of those 80 – 20 puzzles, most of it quickly done and few stragglers taking longer than the eighty per cent.

I got there in the end although some of it was tricky to unravel.

Yes, a bit of a shocker.   It seems like there are more solvers with errors than usual, so it is very important to carefully follow the cryptics.    I suspect this puzzle will have a NHO for nearly every solver, but it should be possible to come up with an all-correct grid if you are careful.

24:30 for a puzzle which I found quite enjoyable, and neither too easy nor too hard. I imagine I’m on the slower side today, because I seemingly cannot finish a puzzle in under 20 minutes anymore, but nevertheless I felt at home with the clues, which is a welcome change for me.

Time taken: 11:03, with at least four minutes head-scratching over 1 down!

Usually I admire crosswords which require a few leaps of the imagination to get to the answers, but…
