An interesting crossword with some fairly advanced vocabulary

Much of this went in quite easily once I got started

I printed out three puzzles for the evening, and whipped through the Quickie.   Next up was supposed to be the main puzzle, but the puzzle on my clipboard was the Championship final.   Fortunately, I realized this immediately from the difficulty of the clues – no easy Monday this!  Turning to the correct puzzle with relief, I found it not as easy as usual, although not really hard.   

25:51. It would appear I might have done well on a hard one. I felt like I caught onto the setter’s tricks fairly early, but the last few were tough-going indeed.

A nice puzzle, with a liberal sprinkling of alcoholic beverages to whet our appetites, and a boozy dessert thrown in for good measure.

Enjoyable and inventive

A slightly more difficult than usual Monday offering.

A tale of two halves, for me. The science bits and the more classic crossword-ese suited me fine, but there was some outstandingly devilish and original clueing going on as well.
