Times Crossword Championship 2024 – Think literally, not laterally
For those who don’t know me, my name is Colin Thomas, I’m an occasional poster – but more often lurker – on this site, I set crosswords under the pseudonym Twin (plus one or two others), and for the first time this year I was in the grand final of the Times Crossword Championship.
Times 29053 – Oh My!
An interesting test from the setter today.
Times Quick Cryptic 2812 by Wurm

Times Crossword Championship Results
As reported on The Times Crossword Club site…

Note from Vinyl1 – I have engaged a guest blogger to blog the Championship puzzle.
Mephisto 3346 – What to do with the bourgeoisie?
This Mephisto was pretty straightforward, and I managed to finish it in one sitting on a Saturday night. Most of the vocabulary was at least somewhat familiar, and I was able to write in a number of answers confidently without cracking Chambers.
Sunday Times Cryptic No 5133 by Dean Mayer — Some twists and turns
…but overall rather straightforward, I thought, a quicker than usual trip from Dean.
Quick Cryptic no 2811 by Jalna
I found this considerably towards the tougher end of the QC spectrum.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1696 – he stuck a feather in it
Nothing to panic the ponies here – another relatively straightforward solve with a few unfamiliar bits
Times Cryptic 29046 – Saturday, 12 October 2024. Egged on, or egg on face?
A few unknowns here but all getable.
