  1. 41m but with ACHAEON, because I can’t spell ‘paean’.
    When I’m in charge clueing words like KISLEV and TUYERE with anagrams will be banned, and 23dn is the most unspeakably awful clue I’ve seen for a while.

Did this one yesterday in quite a few separate sessions which is the norm for me – I keep all the Saturday Times crosswords in a pile and get round to attempting them eventually, sometimes before they are blogged but usually weeks later by which time there is little point in adding a comment here. Managed to parse all the answers in this one which doesn’t always happen even when I manage to get all the answers. Thanks to blogger and setter.

  3. Keriothe already indicated my problems with this puzzle; I finally resorted to the dictionary sv CERV… for 23d, making this a DNF. No trouble with ACHAEANS, at least; the word is all over the Iliad.
