  1. Funny thing about jumbo blogs, you wait for ages then three come along all at once 🙂

I don’t remember a lot about this one but my answer sheet is completely blank apart from the answers themselves, no doodles or question marks, so it must have been quite easy

  2. All I remember is that it took me forever to parse 20ac once I got the word from checkers. I’m afraid I still don’t get EXON.
    1. It is simply an obscure word – one of the top 4 Yeomen of the Guard according to Chambers
      1. Thanks. I’m embarrassed to say I looked it up post-solve, and somehow overlooked it, seeing only the genetic sense; I think I really am due for reading glasses. Of course, as Keriothe says below, what else could it be? which is why I was able to solve it.

    2. It’s a handy word for crossword purposes, because it also has an alternative meaning – part of a gene that doesn’t code for protein (an exon as opposed to an intron).
  3. 18:59. A rare sub-twenty-minute time, and no mistakes, so it must have been easy. I had no idea about EXON but what else could it be?
