Times Jumbo 1139

Happy Easter, everyone!

I found this puzzle fairly straightforward, and it didn’t include too many obscure answers or references; I don’t think 25ac is widely used except by anatomists, and I’d not come across 6dn before, though it’s a variant of a much commoner phrase. Two moths in one puzzle is maybe a little unusual…

  1. Something about Jumbos makes me extremely prone to silly, careless errors. This time I had PERMANANT TOOTH and TRAWL. I wonder what it will be this week…
  2. ‘Novel’ is the definition, “Tropic of Capricorn” being a novel by Henry Miller, who also wrote “Tropic of Cancer”. Does anyone read him anymore?
  3. Thanks for blogging,Helen,got all correct.How is 22d ‘novel’?(ONG’ARA,NRB)
  4. Smidge pedantic as I had the same speed solve parsing of this, but it misses one of the Us. I think you need to double up the “posh MP” not just the MP, so that you get VAC + UMP,UMP around U.
    1. Many thanks fathippy2, you’re quite right – I’ve amended the posting.
