Thanks to all who came yesterday. It was a great day. In total there were about 30 of us and it was nice that Mick Hodgkin (Times Puzzles editor) and Jason Crampton (Times Crossword editor) were able to join us. You can see some photos from the day on my blog here.

Thanks to John for organising & everyone who came – it was a lovely day.
I hadn’t realised at the time, so couldn’t tell anyone, but my latest puzzle was in the Independent on Saturday. You can access it here (scroll back to Saturday 14th): https://puzzles.independent.co.uk/games/cryptic-crossword-independent
I also mentioned http://www.MyCrossword.co.uk to a few people as a great site for trying your hand at setting, so have put the link here for ease of access.
Did that one yesterday Jamie. Lovely puzzle which had me scratching my head at times! Was also amused to see that Kitty blogged Filbert’s puzzle yesterday. Super day at The George and a big shout out to David and John for organising the event and the pics.
Thank you John, and I hope you enjoyed your time in Northampton as well. Up the Railwaymen!
Great to see so many. Thank you John for arranging. Nametags were a good idea!
many thanks John from us, very nice to meet so many crossworders, and put faces to names, Chris and Francesca
Looking forward to the second post… 🙂
Nice to have something to look forward to!
Thanks so much for organising this – I had a great time, it was lovely to meet so many people, and I’ll definitely be posting!
Many thanks from me as well to John and David for a super afternoon. All I can say is that I was glad I was interspersing Guinness Zeros with the real stuff!
For the masochists among you who expressed disappointment that I didn’t bring my guitar to The George, here’s my latest YouTube recording. This song is called Slaggy Island Farewell. It was written by Vin Garbutt in 1974. Vin was born in 1947, in Coral Street, South Bank, 3 miles east of Middlesbrough centre, which was known as Slaggy Island because of the ring of slag heaps, built from waste from the iron works, that surrounded it. The song is Vin’s lament for the communities that were dispersed when the old back-to-back houses he grew up among were demolished. https://youtu.be/V8oC8TnXXp8
