Some good news for those not in the UK…

It looks like they load the crosswords day by day now, and so you can get to a crossword as soon as it is online without having to do the time change (my desktop at home has been set to GMT for the last year or so).

I managed to log on at 7:05 pm US Eastern time and both the links for “play” and “print” went to crossword 24134. The interactive one, however showed the date as the 27th.

  1. I’m so used to picking it up through the explicit URL I never even noticed. That way it is not necessary to reset the clock. But it always seemed odd that the crossword was available at midnight in the UK but not until it reached midnight in the US did the “today’s cryptic” link work. When I was in Japan I tried to see if I could get it earlier since it was already “tomorrow” but that didn’t work.
    1. It was linked through the computer’s clock, but you couldn’t get the crossword until midnight GMT.
