Sloggers & Betters 12

Tuesday 19th May sees the annual Times setters’ lunch, and as usual a gathering has been arranged to hook up with this.

Following the office move, we have suggested The George on Borough High Street in Southwark, a National Trust owned pub.

Hopefully a number of the great and the good from the crossword world will be there and you are welcome to join us. It would help if you can indicate you can come below, so we can let the pub know a rough idea of numbers for food etc. Some of us plan to be there from 2pm onwards. Please refrain from strangling any Times setters who have given you grief in the past, the Met tend not to accept alibis from other crossworders!

This gathering is also being advertised via Big Dave’s (Telegraph) Blog, and Fifteensquared. Hope to see you there!

  1. Definitely hope to make it – will probably take a day off work and do the whole thing. Alcohol/crossword poisoning ahoy!
  2. I would love to meet some of the bloggers in the flesh, but can’t join you all until 7pm or so. What’s the plan for the evening? Is anyone going to be around then? The George is a great choice!
    1. I’m trying to work out if I should take the whole day off work or just a half day – if the half day, I’d presumably be up for the evening stint, but I don’t want to miss *too* much if most of the action is happening earlier…
      1. Half a day would be ample as things don’t usually get going until after 2.

        See you there.

        1. Complicated somewhat by the fact that my work hours often end up being noon till 8pm… so when I say “half day” I actually mean showing up around 5!
  3. Will make every effort. Will also try and have a badge with the dog to help identification.
  4. I’d have loved to be there, but current work commitments make it impossible! Hope everyone has a good time. I’ll solve a crossword over a lunchtime pint to show solidarity!
