Solving time 8:20, which came as a bit of a surprise after a week of times over 15 minutes for the daily puzzle. But this was incredibly straightforward, with no tricky vocabulary, hardly any general knowledge required and for the most part simple wordplay. 27A was the only one that needed a bit of careful unpicking. Having said that, there were no howlers either, so this would be a good candidate for a beginner’s first unaided completion.
