Quick Cryptic Vacancy

Olivia’s off to her home in the wilderness this week (I’ve seen pictures, looks quite idyllic but there’s no Internet access), so will be unable to blog the Quickie for the next few months.

So if you fancy trying your hand at blogging for us, here’s your chance. It’s every other Thursday starting on 31st March. Sorry about that, you’d think I’d know what the rota was, but jackkt has just corrected me!

Having said that, it’s okay if we get two new bloggers sharing duties, as it makes covering for holidays etc easier.

On the assumption that most Quickie fans don’t come here at weekends and may even miss Monday this week, what with it being a Bank Holiday, so that it may be Tuesday before all have had a chance to see Andy’s message, please don’t be put off at the thought of a short deadline to begin operations on Thursday 31st March. I’m happy to cover so that a newbie can start on 7th April, or the following Thursday if needs be.

    I’m a longtime reader and enjoyer of the blog, longtime meaning a few months. I love reading it, and I love you all. I’ve made maybe a couple of posts under the abbreviated nomer RolyToly. There was me thinking nomer was a word, apparently it isn’t. I’m thoroughly misgruntled. That mightn’t instil too much confidence, but I’ve done the main cryptic for about a decade now, and feel tentatively able to provide answers and explanations to the quick cryptic every other Thursday. It does sound like a bit of fun!

    1. Hi Roly,

      I think nomer could be a word if we wanted it to be. Sounds a bit less formal than pseudonym – I like it. We have form here for inventing words anyway. I’m hoping biff will make it into the next edition of the OED!

  4. What did we finally conclude on the subject of TLS blogging, by the way? With especial reference to the question: am I meant to be blogging today’s puzzle in any form or at any point?
    1. According to the Google Calendar (linked to the right) your first TLS blog is for puzzle no. 1122 on 22nd April, to be published 3 weeks later on Friday 13th May. Hope you’re not superstitious!
