Monthly Club Special 20,224: Don’t Want None Unless You Got Puns, Hun

Apols for this going out in a somewhat incomplete state earlier – I queued it up a month ago planning later improvements and of course promptly forgot about it entirely. In any case it was a good ‘un – not one but two words containing both Zs and Vs in the first row indicates we’re in for a puzzle that is going to be playful in its vocabulary choices, and there are all sorts of words thereafter that are both breathtakingly silly-looking and rather educational, after research. So, in short I thought this was great. Thanks setter! COD to 16dn just for being an amazing word, and quite a hard one to work out how best to clue, I’d imagine!

  1. Your presentation leaves something to be desired, V.. where is the elegant preamble saying how everyone should be doing this, how you struggled, and in the end it took you more than 11 minutes, etc etc?

Still and all, I did manage to solve this and apparently got everything right. At my time of life, that is enough; though like most pensioners, if I were fortunate enough to win a £100 cheque it would not go amiss ..

And I enjoyed 16dn, and learned something about Sikhism..

    1. I had totally forgotten that I’d queued this on May 1st planning to write the preamble later in the month. I will rectify the matter today!
