Mephisto 2995 – Don Manley

Apologies for going back to the old-school blog format, but the script doesn’t seem to be working for me right now – the puzzle just keeps reloading and I get errors in the console panel. Not sure if this is specific to Mephisto, hopefully it will be back in action next time.

This wasn’t too difficult though I had a hard time finding 1 across in Chambers, and I made a mess of spelling both 9 down and 31 in my grid so there is a lot of scribble on my page.

  1. If you could send me a screenshot (or upload it to a blog in your LJ account) of the errors then I can maybe hazard a guess as to what’s gone wrong – I just tried the script in Chrome on OS X and it seems to work fine for this puzzle.
    1. I think something was funny with the site on Sunday when I was trying to do this – I tried it with today’s daily puzzle and it worked just fine.
  2. This may be the second, but probably is the first, Mephisto I’ve done completely. 9d and 31ac left me too many possibilities, and I had to go to SOED. I think my LOI was HERRY; I had no idea until the very end who William was.
  3. I found this reasonably straightforward for a top to bottom solve. I live near the Dorset Stour so that was a write in
