Enjoyable puzzle of average difficulty. Another word not found in the “correct” place in C but I was ready for it this time!

  1. The first time I looked at this I couldn’t see any way in and put it down. When I went back to it later I saw PISSABED straight away and went on to finish in a sitting.

    For me the pleasure of a good Mephisto is unravelling a clue which produces an answer of delightful improbability so I enjoyed this.

  2. No real problems with this. The French for dandelion is ‘pissenlit’, but 4ac was still one of my last in.
  3. 4A: strictly, “wee” must be “urinate” so that weed=PISSED.

    Intrigued by “from Wiki” for Delia Smith! – if the sales figures quoted are right, most UK households must have at least one book from our best-selling cookery writer.

    1. As you know this TV stuff is not my strong point and I had never heard of the lady but Wiki gave it to me straight away
