Jumbo 863

Posted on Categories Jumbo Cryptic

This was comparatively easy, with no outstanding clues, and one that I really felt was pretty poor (36A). It took me less than 25 minutes, but 8A did bring a smile to my face as I recalled some of the character’s short films.

  1. Hmm, you’re probably right, otherwise why use the word “turning” in the clue? I assumed the river was the Neva, which is in Russia, with “turning into” just a phrase to say “this is how the clue works”.
