  1. I can’t remember much about this, but I do know that I’d never heard of Ebbw Vale, and may have used aids to find it; if not, certainly checked after. DNK NERYS, and in fact don’t know it again; I’m off to look it up. By a happy coincidence, I’d just read a Wodehouse story featuring Ukridge a few days earlier; my first dealings with someone other than Bertie and Jeeves.
  2. The precise reverse of kevin gregg for some reason… no Welsh problems at all but never heard of Ukridge. Still, the wordplay sufficed.
I am familar with The Antiquary as a fine Scotch whisky.. an upmarket blend. Now finally, I discover where it got its name!
  3. 37m. Another who had never heard of the Welsh town. It looked pretty unlikely, but then Welsh names often do, and the wordplay seemed clear. A smattering of other unknowns but no major horse-frigheteners.
  4. Of medium difficulty for me, wordplay helpful for the unknown ones, COD NOMAD if you read the clue in a smutty way, he he. ( Ong’ara, Nairobi, Kenya )
