The other downside of all the extra puzzles is not really remembering how hard or otherwise this grid from two weeks ago was. Thinking back it seems an average offering, with nothing obscure. Not sure on the definition on 12D but must be there somewhere.

  1. From the comments on the forum, it would appear that the clue in the paper was missing the definition that was present in the online version – the clue in the latter was “Horrifying picture, family bearing down on European relative – that’s mind over matter?”
  3. Thanks for excellent blog. While all was clear in the end, I’d have put this among the harder Jumbos with quite a few answers that were new to me. Enjoyable puzzle – was slowed by guessing SHORE MACKEREL for 56A.
