I found this straightforward, but more importantly, how did you do?

We are entertained by Joker at his trickiest in today’s Quick Cryptic. Some clever cluing gave me some head-scratching. Was I just being slow or did you find it tricky too? Thank-you Joker.

A bit on the trickier side today.

None of the vocabulary should be too tricky here, though I had to think twice about some of the constructions.

Like the subject of the song by The Who?, I’m a substitute here for another guy! 

Hi everybody.  I started apace, then slowed down somewhat to finish in a normal-for-me-for-a-quickie time of 07:16. My last in was 3d: I knew I needed to think a bit laterally, but still took a few moments to coax my creaky brain up a gear.  No complaints – which, considering that I’m in a distinctly grumpy mood as I write this, might just be high praise!  5a is my COD – for the penny-drop, natch.  Thanks Hawthorn!

A few pieces of slightly obscure general knowledge in this one from Teazel, although all of them are clued fairly enough.

Hello everyone! This is my first time blogging a puzzle. I’m delighted and terrified. My (grown) kids think this is hilarious.

No major problems with this puzzle, although I jumped about all over the grid & never really established a rhythm.
