Hello! This was a bit of a piglet. At least, I found it so: some very good stuff but some chewy bits. I didn’t finish solo as I had to ask my solvemate for the last answer, 40d. There were a few things I had to look up to write the blog and others I know only from crosswords, such as old crossword friends Timothy and Eric. Nice to meet them again – it’s been a while. Thanks setter!

Hi everyone. Trelawney is a setter who knows how to keep the difficulty level in check, so I am expecting many happy campers today. Thanks Trelawney!
Times Quick Cryptic 2974 by Des – Location, location, location
Hello everyone. We are treated to another puzzle from the stock left by Richard Rogan: always a bittersweet pleasure. Thanks to Des.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1725 – 12 April 2025
Hi everyone. This was on the whole a very satisfying solve. Not the fastest (just squeaked in under the hour), but a nice even pace throughout. Lots of highlights. Thank you to the setter.

Hi everybody. An enjoyable start to the quickie week – thanks Pipsqueak!
Times Quick Cryptic 2950 by Alex – sorry, I can’t marry you!
Hello all. No prizes for guessing my favourite clue today. I also enjoyed the rest of the puzzle, particularly 4d and 18d. Thanks Alex!
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1720 – 8 March 2025. She’ll be coming round the mountain
Hello everyone. I started slowly with this one, then moved up to a steady medium pace before grinding to a halt on my last couple … if you’re not a plant person you may well have felt the presence of something nasty in the woodshed!
Times Quick Cryptic 2938 by Trelawney – Happy Monday
Hi all. I liked this – there are some creative touches which I really enjoyed. Thanks Trelawney!
Times Quick Cryptic 2926 by Oink
Hi everyone. It feels like some time since we’ve seen Oink, and certainly since I’ve had the pleasure of blogging a piggy puzzle. It seemed not so easy when solving but I actually came in comfortably under my inner target time, about a minute slower than my record. My favourite clues are 1d and 4d.
Times Quick Cryptic 2914 by Izetti – back to normality?
Hi all. After failing on Izetti’s last offering, this week I put in a very similar time to the Izetti before that, progressing at an even (if unexceptional) pace. I enjoyed it more too. No 11ds today! Thanks Izetti!
