Times Quick Cryptic No 2289 by Izetti

Once again we have a Quick Cryptic from our old friend Izetti for our Friday amusement. Some great clues. I thought it not too difficult, taking an average time for me of 5:28 but mileage for others may differ as there are a few tricky clues. COD to 3D for the obvious personal reason but I liked 1A, 4D and 8D too, among others. Thank-you Izetti! How did you all get on?

A regular visitor to our Friday QC slot today – it’s Izetti. I didn’t find his crossword too difficult although there are a couple of bits of general knowledge required that may not be familiar to everyone.

Times Saturday Quick Cryptics?

At the recent Sloggers and Betters event in York I had a chat with Mick Hodgkin, the Times Puzzles Editor. We talked about the lack of a Quick Cryptic Crossword on a Saturday and he explained the problem was one of space. But he asked a question, “Would people be happy if there was a Saturday Quick Cryptic which was only available online?” So what do you think? Answers as comments to this post please. [Update 23/11 : I have now emailed Mick and included a link to this post and its responses].

Times Quick Cryptic No 2269 by Joker

We are entertained by Joker at his trickiest in today’s Quick Cryptic. Some clever cluing gave me some head-scratching. Was I just being slow or did you find it tricky too? Thank-you Joker.
