We don’t normally post about commercial events, but since this is crossword-centric we are making an exception in case anyone is interested. From Simon Horobin…
Please come and join us on Friday, March 21 for an all-day conference about literature and word puzzles in the Auditorium at Magdalen College, Oxford.
We are delighted to be joined by Susie Dent MBE, Alan Connor, and John Finnemore as our keynote speakers. Each talk will consider the idea of puzzlement in or as literature, and our speakers range from professional puzzle setters to professors, readers to riddlers, and students to solvers.
The conference is convened by Professor Simon Horobin and Roddy Howland-Jackson (Quince in the Indy) and will also feature a talk by Andrew McCarroll (Eccles/Snape).
Tickets cover the whole day’s programme, and include lunch and refreshments. We will award up to 10 free spaces to graduate students. Applications, along with all other enquiries, can be directed to <[email protected]>.
Looking forward to it – there are several Independent setters attending, and probably others as well.
See you there.. I’ve booked too 🙂
It was good, wasn’t it? My blog post about the event can be found here
Sounds fun! Too far from Edinburgh for a day trip unfortunately. 🙁
