Richard Rogan – RIP
I’m sorry to have to bring you the sad news that Richard Rogan, The Times crossword editor, died at the weekend following a heart attack a week earlier. Update 6th June : His obituary in The Times today can be found here
Times 28933 – Ahead of his time?
Not difficult, but perfectly pleasant.
Times Quick Cryptic 2692 by Breadman
A little harder than some.
Mephisto 3326 – What happens when everyone retires?
This one was not too difficult for me, although I didn’t finish in one sitting. There are a couple of words in here that would be more appropriate for Larousse than Chambers, but they are in fact in Chambers – why, I couldn’t say.
Sunday Times Cryptic No 5113 by Robert Price — unexpected consequences
Another elegant, delightfully devious creation by our fellow Times for The Times regular.
Quick Cryptic no 2691 by Pedro
I often find Pedro one of the more challenging setters and this was no exception, taking me well beyond my par time.
Times Cryptic Jumbo 1674 18th May 2024
Fairly straightforward with a few exceptions. I finished it in one session lasting a few minutes over an hour.
Monthly Club Special No 274 – May 2024
Once more the Monthly Club Special provides us with a feast of exotic words clued by inventive and entertaining wordplay.
Times Cryptic 28926 – Saturday, 25 May 2024. No clue is an island.
Nice clues in this one. I took the wrong route to the right answer in 1ac
