Quick Cryptic 2633 by Wurm
An enjoyable puzzle from Wurm with several long anagrams that weren’t immediately obvious.
Times Cryptic 28874
An enjoyable puzzle with some inventive clues along the way but others perhaps a little perfunctory.
Times 28873 – Bit of a biff-fest
Quite accessible, this one, I think.
Times Quick Cryptic 2632 by Izetti
I was doing well on this one but lost at least 5 minutes on my last two in.
Mephisto 3316 – No, no, no, no; no biffing at all!
This one was a bit of a step-up from the easier Mephistos we’ve been seeing lately – John Grimshaw has provided a tougher challenge, with a number of cleverly-set traps for the unwary solver. I noted them on my copy as I solved, meaning that I wasn’t fooled.
Sunday Times Cryptic No 5103 by Dean Mayer — Not a word wasted
Clues succinct and densely packed, somewhat like koans, hard to crack.
Quick Cryptic 2631 by Noel
A rare puzzle from Noel, who I usually find quite challenging, and this one was no exception.
Times Cryptic Jumbo No 1662 – 9th March
Quite a challenging Jumbo with lots of clever clues and inventive wordplay. The most fun I’ve had with a Jumbo for ages.
Times Cryptic 28866 – Sat, 16 March 2024. Haardvark.
Many clues needed graft, and even those where the answer seemed clear needed careful reading and untangling.
