Nothing frightening here, with a Latin and Italian flavour.

Times 28851 – what the Romans did for us.
An entertaining puzzle which I finished but struggled to explain.
Times 28845 – a goddess pour moi.
A perfectly reasonable puzzle, I thought, but not as much fun as some of recent Wednesdays.
Times 28839 – pets and pests
Another fun-filled Wednesday, with some tricky parsing but nothing obscure.
Times 28833 – variations on a theme.
This was a good one, full of unusual words and looking like it was going to be a pangram.
Times 28827 – all you need to know about trains.
Another speedy romp for a Wednesday.
Times 28821 – one way crossing
I made hard work of this one, having to guess a couple of phrases and idioms I didn’t know (but probably are common knowledge).
Times 28815 – when January went dry.
Another not-so-tricky but pleasant Wednesday, with a bit of literature and some geography to test our GK.
Times 28809 – on this day alea iacta est.
Another pleasant but not very demanding puzzle; even if you didn’t have the GK required, the wordplay was clear.
Times 28803 – Wednesday walk in the park
After the TCC semi-final puzzles which appeared on recent Wednesdays, I found this one had nice relevant surfaces but had nothing to slow me down.
