This was a cracker of Jumbo Cryptic with lots of zany and witty definitions and clever wordplay. It took me twice as long as an average Jumbo and was twice as much fun.

I’m sorry to have to bring you the sad news that Richard Rogan, The Times crossword editor, died at the weekend following a heart attack a week earlier. Update 6th June : His obituary in The Times today can be found here
