  1. Whizzed through this in 46′, a pb for me or as near as dammit; so I’d agree with Helen on the relative easiness. As a practitioner of rhoticism, I could have done, of course, without 5d, but I’m resigned. DNK MM (22ac), but wordplay was sufficient. Ditto lady’s tresses. 20d LOI. Somehow I knew, or at least recalled, GLAIR.
  2. As someone for whom completing the Quick Cryptic is a good day and getting one or two full cryptic answers is a brilliant one, I was disappointed to see this puzzle reusing – even simplifying – a Quick Cryptic clue from earlier in the week.
