Call for volunteers – update

OK folks, sorry I’ve not been around much lately to confirm the new schedule, but here it is:

Jackkt is now doing all Tuesdays.
Penfold_61 is now doing Jumbos ending in 1 and 6 (starting next Saturday with 1191).
Galspray is now doing Jumbos ending in 2 and 7 (starting in two weeks with today’s puzzle).

If you can both message me with your email addresses I’ll send you some basic instructions and a handy HTML template to use.

I’ve also now updated the Blogging Calendar accordingly (and put the Jumbo dates back into sync after the Christmas flurry messed them up!)

  1. Happy to cover any personnel shortfalls, if there isn’t an imminent surge of fresh-faced young volunteers!
  2. V, I’ll put my hand up for the Jumbo if that helps. Seems like a low-pressure way to enter the fray.

    As for “fresh-faced young volunteers”, well one out of three ain’t bad, right?

    I sent you an earlier message on this via LJ but I have my doubts that everything’s getting through by that route at the moment so I’m posting here as well.

  4. If Galspray gets bitten by a deadly spider, eaten by a shark or blown under a bus by the Fremantle Doctor I’ll have a bash at the Jumbo.
  5. Okay, so I think we’ll do the following:

    Jackkt to move to weekly Tuesday blogs for the time being at least.
    (thanks for offering, Verlaine, but it just makes for a more symmetrical calendar).

    John, can you liaise with Tim to agree a takeover date, as I think he’s okay for the next couple of weeks?

    Galspray to take over the Jumbo in a month or so.

    Penfold top of the waiting list next time we get a Jumbo vacancy.

  6. If you’re fixing the calendar Andy I see Macavity is still on the Thursday Quickie. As you know I will have to bow out towards the end of March so it may not be worthwhile to change it now only to have to do so again. Ok with me any way that’s easiest.
    1. Oh yes, sorry about that.

      I prefer to keep it accurate, despite evidence to the contrary! I need to update the Jumbo schedule too, which is probably all over the place after the Christmas rush.

Whilst still not yet in a position to volunteer for Jumbo blogging, I am not sure if this the best place to point out that I’ve been waiting for the blog of Jumbo 1187 to appear in order to take the setter to task for calling a RISSOLE a ‘pastry’ but it seems to have been missed out of the schedule as far as I can tell from searching the site.

    1. Join the queue Sue…I’m still waiting for Jumbo 1186 to appear so that we can have the “I’m not angry just disappointed” chat about the botched anagram at 18ac.
  9. Hi Linxit & All,

    If and when there’s a space then I’d be happy to be involved with a series of every fifth Saturday Jumbo, especially if working as part of a pair. Pretty much a new blogger on here; I’ve mainly been a silent (& grateful) user of T4TT for many years, and largely ‘know the ropes’ with Times puzzles.

  12. We really ought to update the “About this blog” page as well.. it it is out of date in just about every paragraph now!
    1. You’re right, Jerry, and I know you’ve mentioned this before. I might have time to have a look at it on Saturday. I think it needs a complete rewrite from scratch to be honest.
