Mephisto 2660 by Paul McKenna

Not too difficult as these things go without great recourse to Chambers. I don’t understand 33A which I solved by looking at the checking letters,T?ARS reading the first three words of the clue “rush special drops” and then ignoring the rest of it – strange!

  1. I didn’t follow 33ac either. Obviously both halves of the clues work the same, ie the second half is drop=TEAR + special=S; rushes=TEARS, but I don’t see what it adds, other than a diversion.
